Get to Know Fort Wayne
Indiana Tech is centrally located in downtown Fort Wayne, which allows our students to take full advantage of all the city has to offer. A variety of arts, entertainment, dining, shopping, minor league sports, outdoor activities, festivals and cultural and religious events means there is always something to see and do year-round.
Fort Wayne is known for some of the best restaurants in Indiana. No matter what your taste is, or what time of day it is, there’s something in town to satisfy your appetite.
Cindy’s Diner
A Fort Wayne favorite, Cindy’s Diner offers breakfast and lunch including the famous “garbage plate,” a blend of eggs, potatoes, cheese, onions, and ham.
Coney Island
This popular hot dog joint offers hot dogs, cheeseburgers, chili, and plenty of sides just two miles from campus in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne.
Conner’s Kitchen + Bar
A new addition to downtown Fort Wayne, Connor’s Kitchen + Bar offers elevated Midwest cuisine and a hangout worthy of the downtown atmosphere. Conner’s is located just 1 mile from campus and minutes from the Fort Wayne Tincaps stadium.

Firefly Coffee House
A popular study spot among students, Firefly offers comfortable couches and chairs as well as free wireless internet. The coffeehouse has numerous blends of hot coffee, espresso, cold shakes, and smoothies. The menu also includes various salads and sandwiches. Local artists are featured each month, so be sure to check out the live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
Hop River Brewing Co.
Hop River is a 15-barrel production micro-brewery and taproom in downtown Fort Wayne. Order up the perfect snack to share, sandwich, or salad to enjoy with your pint or flight of their craft brew. Their from scratch and seasonal menu is perfect for those interested in veggies, gluten-free, or meat options.
Fortezza Coffee
Located in the area of downtown with that “big city” feel, Fortezza offers great coffee, fresh baked goods, and wonderful brunch options. If you are a coffee connoisseur, there is a large selection of coffee for you to choose from.
JK O’Donnell’s
Just 1 mile west of campus, <aDonnell’s” href=”https://jkodonnells.com/”>JK O’Donnell’s is a traditional Irish pub that brings the Emerald Isle to Fort Wayne. The menu features classics like fish and chips, bangers and mash, and shepherd’s pie, in addition to salads and sandwiches.
Jimmy John’s
Known for “freaky fast” service, <as” href=”https://www.jimmyjohns.com/”>Jimmy John’s serves a variety of cold subs, and the downtown location will deliver right to campus.
Klemm’s Candlelight Café
Less than 2 miles from campus, this café is popular for its diner-style breakfast including omelets, pan-fried eggs, and other breakfast favorites. The menu also consists of steak, chicken, sandwiches, soups, and salads.
Mad Anthony Brewing Co.
Pizza, vegetarian burgers, great barbeque, and an array of appetizers are available on the menu, along with the microbrews from which the establishment gets its name. Mad Anthony also hosts a mic-night and offers great weekend entertainment. It is conveniently located just 2 miles west of campus.
Old Crown Coffee Roasters
This coffee house is just 2 miles north of campus and roasts several different blends, plus offers a menu of wraps, hot sandwiches, salads, and soups. Free Wi-Fi also makes this a great place for studying.

Fresh seafood with a casual, upscale atmosphere just three miles west of campus.

Pint & Slice pizza is located downtown just minutes from campus, and you can order pizza by the slice or a whole pie.
Powers Hamburgers
A Fort Wayne favorite for more than 60 years, this downtown diner’s most popular menu item is the slider with grilled onions. Other choices include chili, biscuits and gravy, pies, cakes, and donuts.

The Deck at Don Hall’s Old Gas House
Situated on the bank of the St. Mary’s River, The Deck is a favorite spot for outdoor dining. The menu includes prime rib, seafood, steaks, and Cajun specialties.
The Hoppy Gnome
The Hoppy Gnome menu focuses on fresh ingredients and features a “scratch” kitchen. Tacos are their focus, and with a rotating menu you are always in for something new.
Zinnia’s Bakehouse
Fort Wayne’s favorite cupcake destination! Zinnia’s has an array of gourmet cupcakes, custom cakes, and fresh bread. It’s less than two miles north of campus.

Botanical Conservatory
The Botanical Conservatory is an oasis in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne. You can visit the Showcase Garden with its lush seasonal displays, wander through the Tropical Garden where orchids and palms thrive in the shadows of a cascading waterfall or retreat to the quiet beauty of the Desert Garden.
Coldwater Crossing Theater
Enjoy the newest movie releases in comfort at the Coldwater Crossing Theater. This theater offers reclining, movie-viewing seats in all of their theaters.
Combat Ops
Aim for adventure in this locally owned, multi-attraction entertainment center. Lose track of time hurling axes at targets, playing mission-based laser tag, testing your skills in the NERF arena, bowling with friends or checking out the arcade room. Combat Ops is the most unique entertainment center in Fort Wayne.
Crazy Pinz
Crazy Pinz is a 50,000 square foot family entertainment center is located on the city’s north side. This facility includes: 24 Lanes of Bowling, a SkyTrail Ropes Course, Augmented Rock Climbing Wall, Shankz Blacklight Mini-Golf, 3-Story Ball Tent, Arcade with Redemption Store and a full-service Bar and Restaurant. Foellinger Theatre
The Foellinger Theatre is one of our many music and concert venues in Fort Wayne. Located in Franke Park, it is a great place to see nationally acclaimed musicians and tribute bands, as well as free performances by local groups.
Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo
The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is ranked in the top 10 for best children’s zoos in the nation and has been voted #1 summer attraction in the state of Indiana.
Headwaters Park
A 30 acre park in downtown Fort Wayne which provides a setting for a wide range of public and private events including festivals, concerts and cultural events, weddings, family reunions and other parties. Free Splash Pad open Spring to Fall, and Ice Skating open late November thru February, weather permitting.
Promenade Park
This one-of-a-kind park joins our natural rivers to our thriving urban center and is the Midwest’s newest destination for recreation, arts and culture. Fort Wayne’s three rivers, The St Mary’s, the St Joseph and the Maumee, are a great source of entertainment, exploration and fun. Adventure the trails along the water, discover family fun attractions like the treetop canopy trail and kid’s canal and take to the water on a riverboat cruise or kayak rental!
The Clyde Theatre
The Clyde Theatre is an old Fort Wayne, Indiana favorite, with a history dating back to 1951. It started out as a movie theatre, changed names, closed, became a church, and now rises from the ashes as an impressive concert venue with a capacity in the thousands.
The Embassy Theatre
The historic Embassy Theatre features national productions from the Broadway stage, concerts, cinema and educational programming.
Fort Wayne has a lot to offer in terms of shopping for any taste. In addition to two major shopping malls, we have the big national retail stores such as Target, Walmart, and several locally owned businesses.
Jefferson Pointe
Jefferson Pointe is an outdoor shopping mall located just 4 miles west of campus. It features favorite retail stores, full service restaurants, and the IMAX Theater at AMC Jefferson Point 18.
Glenbrook Square
Located 3 miles north of campus, Glenbrook Square is the third largest shopping mall in Indiana, boasting more than 130 retail shops, a large indoor food court, and several full service restaurants.
Grocery Stores
Let’s face it, you can’t live off dining hall food or gas station hot dogs you pick up after filling up your car with gas forever. Fort Wayne has a variety of places to do your grocery shopping at, including Meijer, Kroger, Walmart, Target, Aldi and other smaller local stores.
Komet Hockey
Calling Fort Wayne home since 1952, the Komets’ last 64 seasons have been nothing less than successful. They hold 12 division titles, 12 regular season championships, and nine championship titles (seven IHL Turner Cups, one UHL Colonial Cup, and one CHL President’s Cup).
Fort Wayne TinCaps
The TinCaps Baseball Team is a class A ball club in the San Diego Padres system who won their first Midwest League Championship in 2009 when they posted a 101-48 record. During the 2017 season, the organization set regular season and playoff attendance records by hosting more than 415,248 baseball fans.
The TinCaps play at Parkview Field, located downtown and only a few minutes from campus.
Fair Play
Fair Play, anindoorvolleyball center, is located about 4 miles north of campus. The facility offers women’s, men’s, and co-ed leagues for all abilities and ages.
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
Fort Wayne is home to 86 parks, including three pools, seven splash pads, four public golf courses, a disc golf course, two driving ranges, gardens, playgrounds, campgrounds, and the River Greenway, an extensive system of trails for walking, running and biking.

The Plex
The Plex is an indoor-outdoor, multi-sport facility that offers flag football, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball tournaments.
YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne
With several convenient locations throughout Fort Wayne, the YMCA offers sports leagues in basketball, flag football, gymnastics and tumbling, lacrosse, martial arts, soccer, volleyball, and wrestling. Fitness classes, gym equipment, and memberships are available.
