About Early Start

About

At Indiana Tech, we are committed to offering high school students valuable opportunities to experience college-level learning. Our Early Start dual enrollment program focuses on building strong relationships between Indiana Tech and regional high schools, both public and private, as well as individual students. Whether courses are taken online or in-person, students can earn college credits that align with their chosen degree path while potentially earning credits toward their high school diploma.

Benefits

At Indiana Tech, we’re proud to offer high school students the chance to get ahead through our Early Start dual enrollment program. This program provides several key benefits:

  1. Earn College Credits Early
Students can complete college courses while still in high school, earning credits that can be applied toward their Indiana Tech degree or transferred to other institutions. This jump-starts their college career, saving both time and tuition costs in the long run.
  2. Dual Credit Opportunity
Early Start courses can also count toward fulfilling high school diploma requirements, meaning students can advance both their high school and college education simultaneously. This is up to your school district if it can count as dual credit towards your high school diploma.
  3. Explore Areas of Interest
Early Start allows students to explore potential degree paths and academic interests before fully committing to a major. This helps them make more informed decisions about their future studies and career paths.
  4. Flexible Learning Options
With courses offered both online and in-person, students can select the learning format that best fits their schedules and personal learning preferences, making it easier to balance high school commitments with college coursework.
  5. Access to University Resources
Early Start students are considered part of the Indiana Tech community and have access to the university’s resources, including access to academic resources, facilities and events. This ensures they have the support they need to succeed in their coursework.
  6. Enhanced College Readiness
By engaging with college-level coursework, students develop critical skills such as time management, self-discipline, and academic rigor, which prepare them for a smoother transition into full-time college studies.
  7. Strengthened College Applications
Participation in a dual enrollment program like Early Start can enhance students’ college applications, showcasing their ability to handle college-level work and demonstrating a proactive approach to their education.
